CLASS OF 1934

Mildred “Midge” Artley has lived in Belleville for over 80 years. She has distinguished herself through community service, as a role model of female accomplishment and impeccable integrity, and as a major contributor to our community. She began her 44 year career as a bookkeeper for local industry. In 1955, Midge joined the Van Buren Public Schools as a bookkeeper and paymaster, handling all accounting, payroll and benefits, and school tax revenues. The public funds entrusted to her care were scrupulously accounted for over 25 years. Midge retired in 1980 and continues to serve in many community organizations.
