STUDENT SAFETY
As I mentioned yesterday, the student and staff safety is first and foremost for me as a principal. PLEASE DO NOT PARK OR DRIVE IN THE BUS LOT AT ARRIVAL OR DISMISSAL. At the end of the day yesterday, someone ran over our large cone with the "BUSES ONLY" sign so this morning the sign was not there and a car pulled to the end of our bus lot. They were told they could not be in that lot and they needed to stay parked until the buses left. Well, they decided to pull out as one of my staff members was getting the Kindergarten students off a bus and walk toward the sidewalk. Luckily my staff member saw the car that decided to race through the parking lot and was able to make sure the students were safe, but it was very alarming to everyone, children included. There will be a police presence and there will be additional cones blocking off the bus parking lot which is reserved for staff and buses only. Please be respectful to others and look out for our Savage Families safety.
Good Morning Savage Families,
Please know that my number one job is to keep all of the students and staff safe here at Savage Elementary. So I am sending just a couple of very important reminders about dropping off students in the morning.
1. Please DO NOT drop students off in the "Thru Traffic Lane" Students should not be walking by themselves between moving cars.
2. DO NOT get out of your car in the "Drop Off Lane." Please have your child ready to get out of the car on the curb side so we can keep traffic moving into the parking lot.
3. Please do not park at the curb in the "Drop Off Lane."
I know the traffic can get backed up out onto Savage Road but please pack your patience and let's be sure to model the behavior that we would want our children to see. Thank you for your time and patience.
Dear Savage Families,
I am so proud to share with all of you our new Savage t-shirts that every student will be bringing home today. Ms. Glime and I are proud to stand with Harvey who is our artist that created the design for our new shirt. Awesome job Harvey!
Savage Spirit Week Feb 14th - Feb 18th
Hello Savage Families,
First, just a reminder that today and tomorrow are half days of school with dismissal at 12:31 p.m.
Next week Tuesday, January 25, 2022 is our Hungry Howie Fundraiser. The proceeds go to purchasing items for Black History Month for our students. Congratulations to Mrs. Nofs class for being the winner from last month.
Also, please make sure that your child brings a water bottle to school, the office is out of cups.
I would also like to inform everyone that January is School Board Recognition Month. The service of our seven board members should not go unnoticed since they have had to navigate through unchartered waters during Covid. Below is a list of our board members: Amy Pearce, Susan Featheringill, Darlene Gerick, Simone Pinter, Dionne Falconer, Calvin Hawkins, and Kelly Owen. Thank you so much for your service.
Have a wonderful day everyone.
Savage students are studying while enjoying their time with the wonderful Petunia!
Pictured with Mr. Kudlak (Superintendent) and Mr. Brent Held (3rd grade teacher) is Ms. Deyana Abdelwali who was chosen as an Imagine Math Winter Math-A-Thon Winner. She completed 52 lessons and was awarded a tablet and solar powered backpack from Imagaine Math. Way to go DeDe!
More students and their beautiful art.
I just wanted to send a message to everyone wishing them a Happy New Year and hoping that everyone has had a wonderful vacation.
Just as a reminder when we return to school on Monday, January 3, 2021, please make sure your student(s) have a mask as well as extra masks in their backpack. Also, make sure that they dress for the weather since we will go outside as long as it is above 20 degrees.
I am including some pictures of some of the amazing artists here at Savage Elementary School. In art class with Ms. Kimberly Glime they have made some amazing winter scenes and snowflakes.
Good Evening Savage Families,
I just wanted to send an update on a couple of items and the first one is that we will be refunding all money sent in for the Teddy Bear Raffle since we were unable to obtain our gaming license in time for the drawing tomorrow.
Next, if your child had a piece of art that was featured downtown Belleville on a banner, the banners have been returned to Savage. Ms. Glime will contact you to see if you would like that banner or if she should hang it up in the school.
Tuesday, December 14, 2021 will be our Hungry Howie's fundraiser day if you would like to order pizza for dinner that night, the school will receive a percent of the proceeds if we get 32 orders throughout the day.
Have a wonderful evening.
Please see attached letter.
Happy Friday Savage Families!
I just wanted to remind everyone that our Food Drive for our local Food Pantry will begin next week. We are doing things a little differently this year, we are asking each grade to bring in specific items. Kindergarten - apple sauce cups, First - 1 pound packages of any type of pasta, 2nd - plastic jars of any type of pasta sauce, 3rd - 6-7 oz boxes/bags of any type of rice sides such as Rice-A-Roni or Knorr, 4th - fruit cups. The Food Drive will end December 10th. Thank you so much for your generosity.
Next week Tuesday, November 23, 2021 will be our annual Turkey trot, so please make sure that your child dresses for the weather. After the turkey trot, all students will be treated to some hot chocolate.
Also, just a reminder that we only have school Monday and Tuesday next week. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Our picture retake day will be Friday, November 12, 2021 and our first set of pictures should be in the first part of next week so be sure to mark your calendars.
The PTO poinsettia/wreath sale has started and all orders need to be turned in by Thursday, November 18, 2021. Our goal is to raise enough money so we can purchase a student designed Savage t-shirt.
We have a team of 4th grade students headed to Ford Field this Sunday at 4 p.m. to play Flag football and represent Savage Elementary and our Playworks partners. The event is free and I hope everyone has a wonderful time.
Thank you everyone for taking the time to meet with all of our teachers for your child's confernce, the kids are doing an amazing job. We truly appreciate your support.
Happy Friday Savage Families,
I would like to remind all of you that students do need to bring their own water bottle to drink out of for the day. We are totally out of water bottles and we are running low on masks as well. Please make sure that you pack extra masks for your child because the elastic does break or they become soiled during the day. Also, with all the rain that we have had, please try to pack a change of clothes for your student in case they get wet on the playground.
Next week is also a busy week with a Professional Development day on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, so there will NOT be school on Tuesday but there will be conferences on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, in the evening after school. Then there will be a half day of school on Thursday, November 4, 2021 to allow for conferences during the afternoon and evening as well and a half day of school on Friday, November 5, 2021. Half day dismissal time is 12:31 p.m. Please be sure to sign up for conferences through 'Meet the Teacher' and you should have received the information from your teacher already. So if you did not get the information, please be sure to contact your classroom teacher.
Have a safe and wonderful weekend.
Savage Families - This is a reminder. Mobile Dentist will be here at Savage on November 23. Please see the attached form if you are in need of this service.
Good Evening Savage Families,
We have several things coming up that I wanted to make everyone aware of, so get your calendars ready. This Friday, October 22, 2021 will be our 'Pink Out' day and we are encouraging everyone to wear pink and we will be selling pink masks for $1. All proceeds will be donated to Breast Cancer Research. Next week Tuesday, October 26, 2021 will be our Hungry Howies Fundraiser Night so let's order pizza for dinner and see whose class will win the pizza party. Then on Friday, October 29, 2021 we will have our Fall Parade beginning at noon. Friday will be a HALF DAY OF SCHOOL with dismissal at 12:31 p.m. We will have the parade outside weather permitting and if the weather is bad, we will tape the parade and post it to Dojo for everyone to see. We will make an announcement on Friday morning if the parade will be outside or taped, so please be sure to watch Class Dojo for that announcement. If you are thinking about sending in an individually wrapped treat, all treats will need to go home with the students and remind them they cannot eat on the buses. For costumes, there can be no blood, weapons, and masks will need to be worn on the top of their head for safety reasons. If you do not want your child to participate in our fall parade, please let your classroom teacher know and we will have other activities planned for them. Have a wonderful evening.
Happy Friday Savage Families! Just a reminder that tonight is the BHS Homecoming football game beginning at 7 p.m. Go Tigers. Also, this week we had pictures taken and mark your calendar, Picture Retake Day is November 12, 2021 just in case your child was absent or you need your pictures redone. I would also like to say thank you to all of the families for being so supportive and remember if you ever have any questions do not hesitate to call the office. 734-699-5050. Have a wonderful weekend.
SES - Savage Families Reminder - School Picture Day is Wed Oct 6th
Happy Friday Savage Families,
I would like to thank all of our amazing families for your continued support with our online School Store Fundraiser. The teachers are very appreciative for all the gift cards that were donated to their classrooms.
Also, just a reminder that it would be very helpful if everyone had a change of clothes in their backpacks just in case they have a spill, then we would not need to contact any of the families at work.
Next week Tuesday is our first Hungry Howies Pizza Fundraising night and the school receives 10% of the total sales for the day if we get 34 orders.
Next Friday will also be our first popcorn day, it will be fifty cents a bag and all profits will go to our special teachers.
Have a wonderful weekend.
