This is a message from Jeff Moore, Director of Instruction at Van Buren Public Schools. Today, I am sharing with you information about a new full-time schooling online option for Van Buren Public Schools students. Regardless of what school will look like next year, our district will be providing an option for students to participate in a full-time, online virtual school next year. The new Belleville Online School (B.O.S.) will be available for all students from kindergarten through the 12th grade. Families who choose to register their students in the program will have a virtual platform that will provide a teacher of record as well as a mentor. Additionally, students will be provided their own Chromebook for the duration of the time they are in the program. For more information, please visit: https://bit.ly/vbpsonlineschool. This information, including how to enroll, can also be found at the top of our district webpage at vanburenschools.net under “Online School Info”. Or please feel free to contact Dan Wright at dwright@vanburenschools.net or myself at jmoore@vanburenschools.net

I just wanted to share this important information about hand washing provided by our District Resource Nurse. I strongly believe in the importance of teaching kids about germs because proper hand hygiene: Is the single most effective way to prevent the spread of infections Can prevent us from contracting serious (and sometimes life-threatening) illnesses like the flu, hepatitis A, meningitis, strep throat, bronchitis, and COVID-19 Helps ward off foodborne illness outbreaks Keeps us safe from contracting sickness-inducing germs from the saliva of household pets Is extremely important for those with impaired immune systems While you may not have a friend or family member with a weakened immune system, there may be someone at your child’s school, in your office, or at your local grocery store who does. When we work together to stop the spread of germs, we can help keep serious illnesses and infections to a minimum. It's important for kids to know that you should wash your hands not just after you use the bathroom but also before you eat, after you play outside, after you cough or sneeze, after you play with pets, and when you get home. germs.jpg -- Dionisia Munoz RN Van Buren Public Schools District Resource Nurse

Savage Parents - Please remember to pack a set of clean clothes for your children to change into in case of an accident. We have had several students in the office because of wet clothing after playing outside in the snow. Students need to bring winter outerwear including boots, snowpants, hats and gloves. Thank you!
