The mission of the Van Buren Public Schools is to educate children, youth, and adults for full participation in a rapidly changing society and to build and maintain a learning community that improves the quality of life. From preschool through adult education, our employees are dedicated to fulfilling this mission and are proud to make a difference in the lives of our students and in our community on a daily basis. Our goal is to educate all children.
We recognize that each child has individual needs, and we will not leave any child behind. Incredible opportunities lie ahead, and our school board and our staff are committed to work together as a team to give our community's children the highest quality education possible.
The district has one preschool center, six elementary schools, two middle schools, one comprehensive high school and one Alternative Education high school.
Staff members operate under the direction of an elected seven-member Board of Education which meets on the second and fourth Mondays of every month. We serve more than 5,900 students in preschool through twelfth grades and an additional 143 students in our Adult/Community Education Program.
Our 74 square miles include the City of Belleville and parts of the Townships of Van Buren, Sumpter, Canton, and Ypsilanti.
