About Our Community The Van Buren Public Schools District is located at the western edge of Wayne County with a small portion extending into Washtenaw County, the District has its geographic center in the City of Belleville, nestled around beautiful Belleville Lake. The district's 74 square miles are divided by Interstate 94, Belleville Lake and the Huron River, and encompassing all of the City of Belleville, a majority of Van Buren Township and portions of Sumpter, Canton, and Ypsilanti Townships. The community is ideally located for commuters to Detroit, Ann Arbor, and all points in between, making the district an area of intense growth. The area offers a unique combination of working and living conditions. It has emerged from a district with strong rural, agrarian roots, to a high grade suburban community with excellent restaurants, exciting community events, and a healthy business community.
